The Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Center at University Hospital will be holding it's first annual Fine Art and Antique Auction September 18, 2004 at the Setauket Neighborhood House. Offered for auction will be a variety of fine art and antiques including: paintings, lithographs, sterling silver, vintage glass, pottery, quilts, furniture, antique crocks and a wide variety of other antique and collectible items.

Situated on the east shore of the Melville Memorial Pond, the Neighborhood House offers a perfect venue for this event. The wonderful 18th century architecture, inviting sitting porch, wonderful views of the Melville Pond, and vintage furnishings all add to the charm and grace of this spectacular old home.  On Friday September 17, we will host an auction preview with an optional catered reception. Patrons will be able to view and examine the items up for auction and enjoy the wine, food and warm atmosphere.

The auction itself will be held the following afternoon, with a preview beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the auction to follow at 12:00 (noon). Well-known and highly regarded auctioneer Warren Adler will be taking the bids for this event. Mr. Adler has been an east coast auctioneer of fine art and antiques for nearly 30 years. He currently works at several east coast auction houses on a regular basis, as well as providing his services at many charity events throughout the year. His services are highly sought after and we are extremely pleased that he has agreed to help us with this event. His knowledge of art and antiques, quick wit and entertaining observations are sure to make this a fun and memorable afternoon.

At present, we have accumulated a nice selection of antiques and art work including art by Raphael Soyer, Esteban Vicenti, Peter Max, and others as well as antique crocks, vintage quilts, autographs, glassware, pottery, furniture and sterling silver items. We are still in need of donations for this event. If you have items to donate, please contact Bill Scherl at 631-444-3428.
