Clinical Trials in Multiple Sclerosis 2008

Clinical Trials in Multiple Sclerosis 2008

We’re pleased to present our annual listing ofClinical Trials in MS 2008(.pdf), featuring ongoing MS trials, as well as those that are being planned or that have been recently completed. This year’s list of 136 studies indicates an exciting time in MS research, with therapies progressing through the drug development pipeline. Here are some of the highlights:• 11 large-scale studies involving more than 1000 people with MS – up from 3 in 2002• 37 oral drugs under study for treating MS or its symptoms; 5 are in larger, phase 3 trials• Novel strategies for progressive disease, including cannabis extract for neuroprotection, and results of a study on low-dose naltrexone

This list is prepared from materials provided by investigators, published literature and public presentations. While we strive for accuracy and completeness, there are trials that were not included because we were unable to gather sufficient information about them, and there may be inaccuracies due to changes in protocol.

Because recruitment information changes frequently, we do not indicate which studies are enrolling patients. Please visit thetrials recruitmentsection of our national Web site for this information. This section has been enhanced and is now a database that is searchable by state, type of MS, or keyword. For bulletins about new studies, or study results, check out our section onclinical trial news.
