The only camp of its kind in the United States, Teen Adventure Program serves adolescents with multiple sclerosis. This exciting life-changing program, offered by the Lourie Center for Pediatric MS at Stony Brook Medicine on Long Island in partnership with Access2Adventure, offers these unique campers wellness activities such as kayaking, yoga, a high ropes course, meditation, sailing, and much more.
For many campers it is the first time they are meeting kids who face the same challenge as they do every day – living with MS. “I never realized that there were other kids like me out there” is a common refrain heard throughout the weekend. Another camper’s reaction last year was, “at home I sit around and I’m sick…here I’m well.” A young girl writes, “...thank you. I’ve had the time of my life. I will never forget it.”
Teen Adventure Program is open to campers from all corners of North America-from Alaska, Hawaii and California to Florida and Texas to the New York Metro area. The camp is free to all participants and some assistance with transportation may be provided.
Teen Adventure Program 2016 applications are available. Please note deadline dates to ensure your choice of session. For further information on Teen Adventure Program – contact Maria Milazzo 631-444-3130.
